A discovery that could lead to more efficient treatment of pancreatic cancer - drugdiscovery.com


Researchers at the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Physiology in Dortmund have found an effective inhibitor of the KRAS transport protein PDEδ, which enabled a successful switch-off of mutated, hyperactive KRAS protein, responsible for continuous cell growth and formation of tumors. Since mutated KRAS proteins are found in a large proportion of all tumor cells from pancreatic cancer patients, the inhibitor, named deltarasin, opens a new avenue for developing more effective treatments for the deadliest type of cancer.
